"I recently attended two brilliantly designed sessions on Lightroom and Photoshop presented by Mark Fitzgerald. His confidence in his ability and the depth of his knowledge was displayed many times through his willingness to answer basic and advanced questions during his presentations. His examples were dramatic and to the point, and easy for all to see. His style is more like that of a committed coach having a conversation with a team member. It's easy to feel he's only talking to you."

"Thanks for your camera profiling info the other night at the seminar in Seattle. I took those bits of info and incorporated them into my next two assignments and you can see the results. It's amazing to me what one little thing will do to get a photo to POP."

Workshops & Classes

A listing of dates and times for upcoming events can be found on the right-hand column of our Home page.

Below are some of Mark's more popular programs. Many of these can be modified to fit a variety of needs. For example, the Digital Perfection with Photoshop program can range from a two-hour lecture for a large group, to a daylong hands-on program for a small group.

If your camera club, photo organization, or photo business is interested in sponsoring Mark for a workshop or a short program at a monthly meeting, please contact him to discuss the possibilities.

Basic Photoshop

This hands-on workshop is designed to get photographers who are new to Photoshop up to speed. We'll cover all of the basic elements needed to create the foundation for a solid digital workflow - a foundation that you'll be able to build on as your Photoshop skills grow. Once you have the fundamentals down, you'll be ready to learn more advanced topics.

Basic Lightroom

Lightroom is already changing the way photographers work because it allows them to work more quickly and intuitively. In this workshop you'll learn everything you need to know to get the most from this amazing software. Whether you've been working with Lightroom for a while, or if you're completely new to it, you'll get a lot from this workshop.

Advanced Lightroom 3

You've been using Lightroom for a while and now you're ready kick it into high gear. This program helps you do just that by taking you deep inside the Lightroom workflow while exploring many of the new features in Lightroom 3.

Some of the things you'll learn about are: how to take advantage of custom presets to streamline your workflow from import to export, advanced keywording and keyword sets, understanding the catalog concept and how previews are stored inside it, using profiles, and much, much more.

What Are Studio Workshops?

Studio Workshops are custom workshops designed for small groups. These workshops are are perfect for photographers who live outside of large metro areas where most workshops are usually held, or for groups  who want specialized training. The best part is that the person who sponsors the event gets in for free. He or she also gets an autographed copy of one of Mark's books.

HDR for Everyone

High Dynamic Range Photography is changing the way photographers capture the world around them. That's because it enables you to shoot a range of exposures of a single subject and then combine the best exposures in each image to create a single file containing the entire range.

In this daylong workshop you learn about the basic theory of HDR and 32-bit files, how to shoot for HDR, and how to process HDR files with Photoshop and Photomatix Pro. Special emphasis will be on the updated HDR Pro feature in Photoshop CS5.

Secrets of Shooting RAW

Just a few short years ago only a handful of photographers were shooting in the RAW format. Now, that's all changed. Serious photographers everywhere are learning the advantage of capturing as much scene information as possible. However, even as RAW becomes more popular, it sill remains an enigma for many.

In this program Mark explains the theory behind the RAW file format, how to properly expose these special files, and how to develop and convert them for use in Photoshop. If you're new to shooting RAW, this workshop insures you begin the process on the right foot. If you're already shooting RAW this program fills in some of the gaps in your knowledge and helps to insure that you're getting the most from your RAW files.

Creating and Using Custom Camera and Lens Profiles

Weather you know it or not, your camera uses special profiles to interpret and manage the differences between colors. Choosing the appropriate profile for an image can make a huge difference in how specific colors appear. Another type of profile is a lens profile. Instead of working with color, these profiles are designed to correct for geometric distortion, chromatic aberration, and more.

A couple of years ago creating camera and lens profiles was complex and tedious. Now because of new tools from Adobe and X-rite, just about anyone can create custom profiles for their specific cameras and lenses. This workshop explains the nuances of these special profiles, how to create them, and how to begin using them to dial-on your camera so that you get the best possible results no matter what kind of photography you do.

Photoshop 2 - Beyond the Basics

This daylong, hands-on workshop picks up where Basic Photoshop leaves off. In Beyond the Basics you will learn the skills necessary to take your photography to the next level. You’ll also learn creative techniques that will allow you to complete the vision you had when you clicked the shutter. Once you have these skills down you will only be limited by your imagination.

Digital Perfection with Photoshop

Most photographers are self-taught when it comes to Photoshop. They know how to do basic editing and retouching, yet no one has ever sat down with them and shown them the secrets to revealing the true art that is hidden inside of their favorite images. That’s about to change.

Lighting and Lightroom ~ A Digital Portrait Clinic

Join Dave Hutt, from Dave Hutt Photography, and Mark Fitzgerald for an exploration into professional studio portrait techniques. Photograph a model using your own DSLR. Then use Lightroom to fine-tune the photos and present them to clients. Find out what you need to know to start creating quality portraits that sell for more.

Raw to the Wall - The Complete Workflow using Lightroom and Photoshop

This daylong seminar is designed to help portrait photographers separate themselves from the growing crowd of "button-pushers". The first half of the day focuses on how to use Lightroom to quickly make high-quality conversions from camera raw files. The second half of the day is devoted to demonstrating the Photoshop retouching workflow that helps you take your images to the next level.
