But with these options comes complexity due to the large number of choices in papers and printing technology. • Lightroom Classic is a powerful program that can handle ninety percent of most photographers’ workflows. But there are times when the editing task at hand requires Photoshop’s advanced tools and techniques, such as masking, compositing or detailed retouching. The main problem with most introductory Photoshop classes is they cover many things Lightroom Classic users already know how to do in Lightroom, such as tonal and color adjustments, and cropping. This class was designed specifically for people who are ready to learn about important Photoshop tools and techniques that can add additional power to their Lightroom Classic editing workflow.

  • Many experienced photographers rely on Photoshop to fine-tune special images. But a workflow that depends solely on Photoshop misses opportunities for enhanced efficiency and flexibility. This program is designed to introduce a workflow that places Lightroom Classic at the hub of the workflow and treats Photoshop more as a plugin that is used only when needed.

  • It wasn’t that long ago that photo books were the primary method for photographers to show and share their projects. For most photographers, these books were expensive to print due to the large number of books needed to fulfill a minimum order. Today, that’s all changed.

One of Lightroom Classic’s coolest features is the ability to design custom photo books without leaving Lightroom. This gives you the flexibility to layout each page and easily select photos from your Lightroom catalog. You can upload your completed design directly from Lightroom Classic and then order just one book or as many as you need. You can also make your book available to sell to the general public, or simply make one just to give to friends and family

Mobile Photography & Workflow

  • This class is for photographers who are serious about their photography. They understand the principles of photography and know how to use conventional cameras to create interesting images.

In addition, many of these photographers have iPhones and want to use them for more than just simple picture-taking. They want to create serious photos, much like they would with their conventional cameras.

  • One of Lightroom’s most underused features is the ability to synchronize photos with mobile devices. Many users don’t find this feature useful because they don’t understand how it works. This two-hour program is designed to help photographers understand catalog syncing and explore methods for using Lightroom CC on phones and tablets. By the end of the program attendees will have everything they need to begin leveraging the power of Lightroom on their mobile devices adding a new flexibility to their workflows.

  • This class is designed to get you ready to hit the road with your camera and Lightroom. It is broken down into three main areas; before the trip, during the trip and after the trip. The primary goal of the class is to help you prepare for your next photo trip so you don’t run into any surprises away from home or when you return. There will be tips and tricks for people who travel with a laptop and those who prefer to travel light without a computer

Other Topics

  • The complexity of color is often overlooked by photographers. Most understand the basic concepts of how to adjust color during post production, but they don’t often consider the effects the colors in a photo have on one another or how they impact the look and feel of their images.

This is a special two-session version of this class that adds additional content previous attendees requested. It will take you deep into the world of color for an exploration of the technical aspects of color, as well as the emotional impact color can have in a photo. After this class you will never look at color the same, in your photos or the world around you.

  • Though black & white has been around since the beginning of photography, many photographers have not fully explored its creative potential. Working with black & white requires a different way of thinking about how light interacts with subjects and how we see differently in black & white as opposed to color.

This brand new class dives deep into the subject of black & white photography. We will explore many of the nuances that make or break a great black & white photo. You will learn some of the classic concepts of working with black & white and see how they relate to modern photographic techniques.

  • If you shoot film now or if you have in the past, you’re probably interested in film scanning. This class is for people who want to begin scanning film and for people who already have a scanner and want to know more about getting the quality scans. Mark will cover scanners and scanning software and provide all sorts of tips including how to integrate Lightroom Classic with your scanning workflow. And he will discuss “scanning” with a camera, which is becoming popular with photographers who don’t have a scanner.
